There was a beautiful and unique rainshower yesterday, and from the third floor, where we live, there was a gorgeous view where we saw a double rainbow, and clouds in front of and above the mountains in the distance. It was so pretty!! I had to take pics.
Today, I babysat Ree Ree, who is a neighbors baby. She is I guess about 3 or 4 months older than Shelbi, but is huge!! This girl is solid muscle, man. She looks almost 3, and is just as sturdy as a damn tree trunk! So anyway, my mom left for a Dr. appointment, so I had the two girls by myself. All was fine for about an hour. Ree Ree had her sippy cup, Shelbi had hers, they were both drinking milk and snacking on Cheerios. (Actually, they're actually called "Honey Nut Spins", but we all know they're nothing but Cheerios.) Well, it started by Ree Ree smashing Shelbi's hand in the window of their play house, so she started to cry. Which in turn made Ree Ree cry. The crying ensued for the next 30 minutes on and off. I thought....what will take their mind off of this. A DIAPER CHANGE!!! Every kid loves a fresh diaper. So I first changed Ree Ree's. Keep in mind that her parents use the cheapies, and Shelbi has the Cadillac of diapers. The best you can get...Huggies Supreme!!! Hats off to Huggies. They're so stretchy! Anyway, so Ree Ree got a new 'cool' diaper, and as I was changing her, I noticed that something sticky and gooey was on the bottom of her shorts. So I changed her!! Then I changed Shelbi's diaper. All was fine. We came back out, and some other baby catastrophe happened to cause Ree Ree to start crying. Crumpled face, bottom lip, and here come the tears. Well, out of sympathy or I don't know what, Shelbi started crying too. So I decided they needed a nap! They're babies, it's nap time, so they ought to have a nap. Shelbi is still nursing, so I put Ree Ree in Shelbi's crib, and brought Shelbi out to fall asleep with me. No sooner had I walked out of the bedroom than Ree Ree started to scream bloody murder!! I ran back in and picked her up, thinking " I can't do this to this kid!" IDEA!! What if they are BOTH in the crib. They'll play, and then fall asleep!! Perfect. So I put Shelbi in first, and she screamed and cried. I put Ree Ree in....NOW THEY'RE BOTH CRYING HYSTERICALLY AGAIN! So I scooped them up and brought them both in the living room with me, laid Ree Ree down on a fabulous pillow next to me, and she started to drift slowly off. She gets up, and I think, ok, she's hot. So I took off her overalls, and let her sleep in a t-shirt. I'm softly tickling her little legs and feet, and there's another child attached to my bosom. Silence......perfect.......WELL now Shelbi's full, and is up and at 'em. She wakes Ree Ree up right away, and they're now both sitting quietly on the couch looking at me waiting for me to entertain them, I suppose. I think, well, Patty Cake. We played patty cake. Then I remembered a dress that's too big for Shelbi that would look so cute on Ree Ree. So I change her. Bad idea. She hates it. We're all hot, and now I'm thinking that a nice cool bath would be just what the Dr. ordered. I put Shelbi in, and she's loving it! Ree Ree looks at me in horror and clings to my arm like a little monkey!! I put her in and she cries. Well, we all know what comes next, SHELBI is crying, so I have two cold, wet, crying babies in my arms and now I'm at the point where SOMETHING HAS GOT TO GIVE. I had barely put a diaper on the two kiddos, and a fabulous dress on Ree Ree, and her daddy shows up.
So me and my darling princess angel jump into the cool tub, and relax. How am I going to do it with two babies ALL the time???
